R&Y's International Cuisine
About This Spot
Nestled quietly in the heart of Tai Mei Tuk Tsuen, R&Y's International Cuisine reveals itself as a warmly unpretentious spot where the day slows down just enough to make room for meaningful moments around the table. From the moment you step in, the atmosphere strikes a comfortable balance between a local neighborhood favorite and an inviting retreat for those who appreciate thoughtfully prepared Western dishes with a touch of refined care.
The pace here encourages guests to linger — whether it's the gentle hum of lunchtime chatter or the attentive but unobtrusive service that lets you settle in without feeling rushed. Conversation flows easily across well-worn wooden tables while the busy rhythm of the kitchen softly punctuates the calm, signaling that something carefully crafted is on its way.
At R&Y's, the culinary experience feels less like a formal presentation and more like a personal journey across flavors and textures that speak to both passion and patience. The slow-cooked lamb, for example, invites you to savor each bite as it unfolds on the palate, while the crisp foie gras paired with subtle red wine reduction suggests a quiet celebration of ingredients working harmoniously. There’s a comforting homeliness here, evident in their hearty risottos and the rich, aromatic notes lingering around dishes like the slow-braised duck leg, steadily coaxed to depth over hours.
What makes this place particularly special is its genuine spirit—unpretentious yet attentive, bustling yet intimate. You get the sense that the chef’s experience in refined kitchens outside Hong Kong filters into each plate, elevating simple components into memorable moments without ever tipping into formality. Booking ahead is part of the ritual here, a quiet nod to the restaurant’s growing reputation among those who treasure reliability and subtle excellence in equal measure.
Ultimately, R&Y’s International Cuisine offers a warm local haven where food unfolds slowly, shared in good company and sheltered from the city’s usual rush — a welcome pause rooted in the joy of discovery and the quiet pleasure of a well-crafted meal.

We had lunch at R&Y Tai Po today. It is a busy restaurant and highly recommended book a few days ahead. They have 2 seating on lunch time which is 12 and 1:30pm. We go for the 1:30pm seating, so we can enjoy the lunch a bit longer. Ordered a shrimp spaghetti, and duck confit with foie gras, and finish up with maotai cheesecake . The light lunch set shrimp spaghetti only comes with soup, but not the salad. The regular lunch set comes with both soup and salad. We love the shrimp spaghetti, especially the tomato cream cheese sauce. However, the duck confit is not the style I really like. Usually, the duck confit skin is crispy, but this one is more like a soup base style. Maotai cheesecake is a must try dessert. It comes with strong maotai favor. Overall, we enjoyed the lunch today, and definitely come back for dinner.

Despite the unremarkable look of this restaurant, the food is actually fantastic. The dishes has good presentation and suitably complex flavour. A waitress told us that their chef used to work in a 5 star hotel which explains the great attention to details.

The foie gras is amongst the best in town. The oven-baked kurobuta pork and steak are also highlights. The squid ink pasta is a big letdown though. The squid isn't fresh and has mushy textures. Still I would give 5 stars just for the foie gras and meats, but I doubt I'll be returning. Online reservation is required.

Good food Set dinner : - smoked salmon / yuzu + crab / cured ham : simple but excellent taste - caramelized foie gras + apple + fig and red wine sauce : felt like liver instead of real foie gras, but still really good - Potato, cauliflower, cream soup : taste like french homemade - Fish with pastis sauce, zucchini, cauliflower and brocoli : excellent sauce and veggies, fish nice without more - Rhum raisin cheesecake : rhum not cooked so huge alcohol taste, but still good
